E-Max crowns suit patients who want a natural-looking restoration for a damaged, heavily filled, root-treated or cosmetically compromised tooth. They work well on front teeth and most premolars. For high-load molar cases or very thin remaining tooth structure, we may recommend zirconia or an onlay instead — we will tell you honestly which is the better choice for your case.
We use IPS e.max lithium disilicate — a well-evidenced, high-strength ceramic with a natural translucency that closely mimics enamel. Final crowns are designed digitally and finished by hand by our in-house ceramist, so shade, shape and fit are adjusted directly in the clinic.
Most E-Max crown plans are completed in a single 5–7 day visit. Preparation and scanning take place early in the week, the crowns are crafted in-house over the following days, and the final fit is scheduled before you travel home.
Recovery is straightforward. Mild sensitivity to cold or pressure can occur for a few days and typically settles quickly. You can eat normally once the final crown is fitted — we give you a short aftercare brief covering flossing technique and what to avoid during the first week.

Both are excellent. E-Max (lithium disilicate) has the most natural translucency and is our usual choice for front teeth and most premolars. Zirconia is stronger and often preferred for back teeth under heavy bite load. We recommend the right material per tooth, not a blanket choice.

Yes, when shade matching is done carefully. Our in-house ceramist can adjust translucency and colour directly in the clinic, which is why we work with a ceramist on site rather than relying on an external lab.
Preparation is performed under local anaesthesia and is generally comfortable. Some mild sensitivity can follow for a few days while the temporary is in place and usually settles after the final crown is fitted.
